HMI, Hannover 2006
After five days, HANNOVER MESSE has once again proven itself to be an effective 'litmus test' for the economic upswing, earning top marks from the shows exhibitors.
5,175 firms from 66 countries had their expectations fulfilled, rating the economic outlook for their sectors as better than at any other time in the past three years.
155,000 visitors - 154,800 sqm - 44,300 visitors from abroad
155,000 visitors used the 154,800 sqm rented by exhibitors to get a good impression of the capital goods industry's commitment to innovation. Each visitor came into contact with an average of 25 exhibitors, meaning that the fair as a whole generated around four million business contacts. Visitors from abroad reached record levels, accounting for almost 30 percent. Exhibitors particularly benefited from the targeted nature of the inquiries made by the some 44,300 foreign visitors.
The highlight of this year's Partner Country involvement was a visit by India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the show's Opening Ceremony. The role of HANNOVER MESSE 2006 as a prime engine for global dialogue between the worlds of industry and politics was further underscored by the high number of key domestic and foreign political figures engaging in high-level talks.
