Deutronic to showcase DC/DC Converters for Off-Highway environments at iVT Expo in Germany

Adlkofen, Bavaria Germany – June 19, 2024 – Deutronic has earned a reputation for developing state-of-the-art component technology for today’s off-highway electric vehicles. It’s why leading automotive and commercial vehicle OEMs rely on their intelligent power electronics and test systems worldwide. Those systems include various DC/DC converter products that will be featured at the iVT Expo (booth 2048) on June 26-27, being held at Koln Messe in Cologne, Germany.

Among the products that will be on display is the DVCHx3 converter. One of a series designed for hybrid and electric vehicles, it was named the 2021 Product of the Year in the Power category by Elektronik magazine. Tobias Gmeineder, Head of Sales for Deutronic, says all of the company’s converters offer the technology needed for any off-highway or commercial vehicle.

“One of the more intriguing aspects of the DVCHx3 converter is it provides cooling via the contact surface,” he explained. “Unlike your typical purely liquid-cooled systems, it can be flexibly applied to an application. The DVCHx3 is a prime example of the cost-effective contact cooling variant we offer, in addition to our other solutions that include heat sinks or cold plates.”

Gmeineder believes with the demand being high for electric and hybrid technology advancements that can be applied to rigorous applications, the DVCHx3 and other high voltage DC/DC converters are meeting the upgraded power requirements necessary for off-highway electric vehicles.

“Our most recent line of DC/DC converters are designed specifically to address the electrification needs for them,” he added. “The compact design and power density are very robust. They also offer protection from rough environmental factors such as vibration, shock, high temperature variations with humidity, and punishing atmospheric conditions.”

Gmeineder said the DVCHx3 converter is rated IP65, IP67, and IP6K9K for dust and waterproof protection in adverse conditions. Other features include short-circuit, overtemperature, and no-load or self-protection features.

“We are looking forward to seeing everyone at booth 2048,” he added. “One of the messages we intend to promote is how Deutronic is an experienced partner for OEMs throughout their electrification product development cycle. For most vehicle manufacturers, high voltage DC/DC converters are very new to them. We’ve now had three years of many projects and applications knowledge to help these customers with their specific design requirements. I’m confident we can help anyone with their power applications.”
